BitSafe — the course on the safe handling of bitumen
Designed to accommodate all levels of employees with diverse backgrounds, BitSafe gives workers a broad understanding of the hazards associated with the tasks performed in the bituminous industry — with practical examples and demonstrations complementing the theory.
Train-the-Trainer
Effective delivery depends on selecting the right trainers. Internal trainers must meet the trainer profile and attend the Train-the-Trainer course to attain certification to train fellow employees. They present a module of the BitSafe course and are evaluated against set criteria; those deemed competent receive a Sabita certificate of competency valid for three years. Companies without suitable employees can nominate external candidates to be trained as external trainers.
Trainer profile
- Experience in the blacktop industry
- Has worked with the various products, applications and processes
- Literate, with numeracy skills, and fluent in English
- Above-average presentation skills
- Able to relate theory to practical situations and examples
